7 Things You Need to Hear This Lockdown

As many countries across the world head back into another full lockdown, it can be easy to feel down, overwhelmed and exhausted with the entire corona virus situation.

In England, we have just began another month long lockdown. When I heard the news, my first thought was- 'not again'. I felt like life had finally been starting to return to normal, and then had been suddenly dumped unceremoniously into another month of only being allowed to leave the house for exercise.

I know it's hard and I know you may feel isolated and like this next lockdown is going to last forever- but it won't. Like everything else, it will pass and we will come out of it stronger and more ready to face whatever else this virus throws at us.

But if you are finding the thought of another month stuck at home a little daunting, here are 7 things you need to hear this lockdown...

1) You got through the last one- you will get through this one.

Simple as that. The last one was much longer and harder and you survived that. You will survive this one as well.

2) You are stronger than you think

You will get through today, you will get through tomorrow and you will get through the day after that as well.

3) You know what to expect this time

The last lockdown was new and frightening. There was a lot more fear surrounding it- this time you know exactly what to expect, and how to manage it best to help yourself.

4) Don't be too hard on yourself

During the last lockdown, a lot of people set themselves totally unattainable goals, and then were disappointed in themselves when they didn't achieve them. This strange time isn't normal life- take every day as it comes, and celebrate the small achievements like getting out of bed in the morning, or cooking yourself a home made meal.

5) Yes, you should go on that walk

I have personally found that getting out the house every day helps me massively. Even if you don't feel in the mood, get dressed, get your coat on and go for a short walk. I promise you will feel better!

6) You are not alone in this

I think in these situations it is very easy to feel isolated, and like no one understands how you are feeling. Try to remember that you are not alone in this lockdown, and you are not alone in the way you are feeling.

7) You will be okay.

You will. It's a fact. You will be okay.

Sending all my love to anyone struggling during this difficult time,

Saz
